Remodeling Week #3

The new look----New doors and windows.

A look at the door and windows from the inside. Notice the old windows (and wall) are gone :)
Another French door?? Duh, we gotta get to the porch.
Paul, look at the new place to hang my stained glass!!!
Santa waiting for shingles?
Here come the shingles.
Woah!! There they go through the trees!
Ahhhhh. They made it!
Wouldn't you know it---Carolyn is coming home and out side of her bedroom window there were PURPLE mushrooms growing!
Not only did Carolyn come home but we also had a visit from one of the neighbors. We woke up one morning and there was Harmony sleeping on one of the chairs on the porch.:)
Carolyn is up to her usual... trying to teach Ginger to go up and down the new steps......Carolyn, she's blind. She can't SEE the steps!
Success! She did it!! Good job Carolyn! and Ginger :)

Remodeling Week #2

The new temporary kitchen. Sorry, Ging, we don't know where your dish is. Sharon, did you pack it? Maybe it's time for Ginger to go on a diet.
How about this place Ging? Perfect place for your dish. No bumping. Nice and open. Lots of air. Maybe???
So they had to redo the 70 year old plumbing- but why did they have to take the bathroom apart?
Mom's bathtub---- I thought we remodeling the kitchen!!!
Mom and Dad's closet-what does that have to do with the kitchen? Duh! the plumbing for the bathtub
Dad's shop couldn't get any worse. Oh yeah? but notice the new waterheater.
Last of the 'homeowner' demolition. (Thanks for helping Sharon.) We pounded all the nails in only to find out we had to pull up the floor. LOTS of nails. Whew.
Mom's pooped- lots of nails and hard on the knees.
Progress was good until the rains came.

Preparing for rain- dining tarp?-Good thing they got it up, it rained off and on for 4 days.
How do you like this spot Ginger? Careful of the splinters.

Remodeling Week #1 - The Weekend Crew

Ginger !  Here is your last chance to eat.............
Anyone for dinner for five?
It is Saturday afternoon and the pressure is on to demo the kitchen by Monday A.M. !
While everyone else worked on the rest of the kitchen (Tom B in the little closet, Dad hauling out lumber and mom taking pictures) Sharon worked on her little corner pulling nails. Way to go Sharon!
It got a little noisy for Sharon. See how she dealt with it. How creative. :)
There goes the sink. Tom Birkelo loves to do demo. Thank God he helped us out.We never would have finished on time.
Hurrah for Marilyn! What a worker. She came on Sunday to help haul out the debris. Mom and her were the 'dumpers' while the 'Tom's' did the demoing. What a team!
Yahoo!! Mom's closet- NO MORE!!
No more sink. Now we wash dishes in the washtubs downstairs.
Whew! Sharon's happy. All done!! Notice our new kitchen with see-through walls!!

Remodeling starts Week #!

The Thursday before Memorial Day the dumpster arrives to get an early start on demoing.

Girls were anxious to get started. Carolyn hauled out her first load of the shower out of the basement. Mom wants to know why we are demoing the shower in order to remodel the kitchen!!

Mom in the action with Sharon.
Mom asked Sharon why we got such a big dumpster! It's so far to walk!
The girls start unpacking the kitchen. Way to help!
Sharon couldn't wait to start destroying the cabinets
See...... She really was getting into it !!!!!!!
Tuesday the REAL action gets rolling
Just how many 'diggers' do they need???
Removal of the stump turned out to unexpected challenge. Dang tree.......
That's why they need all those 'diggers'
Finally, the stump is gone but what a mess. What is holding up the porch?
They said it maybe weighed 4000 pounds and to think it started as an tiny acorn!!!
The rain made the work site a challenge for the workers but not for Carolyn with her invention.       Recyclable boots
Week one finished........ stay tuned for the weekend workers
